eu funded q2

Implementer: Insubria Center on International Security (ICIS)

Implementation period: January, 1st 2013 – December, 31st 2014

pr3_1The project is implemented in the framework of the EU CBRN Centres of Excellence (CoE) Initiative by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), under the aegis of European Commission’s Directorate General for Development and Cooperation – EuropeAid (DG DEVCO) and the European External Action Service (EEAS). The strategic goal of this Project is to promote sustainable knowledge development on bio-safety, bio-security and bio-risk management and transfer of best practice through the model “train the trainers”. The project will also work to harmonize international bio-safety and bio-security standards among the participating countries and to strengthen regional and international collaboration and cooperation so as knowledge sharing,  sustaining and enhancing networking and awareness raising on bio-related issues among the areas.

The geographical scope of the Project include 4 regions worldwide:

  1. South East Europe, the Caucasus, Moldova and Ukraine

  3. North Africa
  4. African Atlantic Façade

pr3_2In a first stage, selected National Experts (NEs) will be trained in person on bio-security, bio-safety and bio-risk management systems so as on training methodology. Consequently qualified and selected NEs will train further national experts (National Participants- NPs), who will then become trainers locally.

An e-learning platform will be provided to deliver long distance learning materials and to support the training of NEs and National Participants.
